Barrett Jackson Speed vision story only

The corners are one of the hardest parts. Everything ties together. Any one item off changes all.
The joy of the Amphicar top frame. This one was hit ,rusted and previously welded. Sand blast front bow. Determine damage. Cut out spot welds in damage area. Hammer dolly major dents. Install frame on car. Realized frame had been repaired in past. Cut corners to release frame to fit windshield frame. When corners are welded to add support it shrinks the same corners raising front edge of frame. Then there is a giant gap in front.
I said just hours away. I did not say how many! A little welding break. How about some slippery prop shaft rebuild? The versatile right angle grinder. Many pads are available for it. They can be trimmed down to fit most any application. Including cleaning inside of a prop shaft. New bearings, a tube of Amsoil, some gloves.. let the party get started! Putting together is rather easy just messy. Taking apart and cleaning take the most time. The cost of bearings have sky rocketed. The four bearings alone were $126.00. There was a thin spot. So cut out, butt welded, ground smooth, then hammer dollied. Did a little smoothing of joining point on inner fender. This side is nearly done! Next is tacking in seat parts. Install of seat and top well parts. Then back over for more welding fun. Ready to install prop shield brace. Always one more step. Jack points needed some tlc, then paint. Inner u channels got a bit of sand blasting then some epoxy. Hull gets lots of hand sanding. With filler being used to blend some weld lines. Another step closer. Some minor irritations like heat, humidity and some runs (in the paint!) Next step is to look for any areas that need more tlc, sand rough or dirt spots then another coat of black.
