Arkansas green gets a 1500 upgrade. Vroooom
!500 from Gordon Imports. Out with the old and in with the new.
I
will be installing new hoses and brake cables too.
The glamorous side of Amphicar repair. A couple of suspect areas that may cause leaks. I will clean up, inspect and repair as needed.
Seals
installed backwards allowing water in. Causing premature bearing failure. Small
pinch bolt used causing axle wobble. Soon will have new bearings, axle, seals
and pinch bolts.
Previous repairs were made by glue and by brazing. Looking at brazing skills its a good thing they make glue. Either way there were holes and open seams. I bought the giant tubes of JB Weld. This epoxy glue is excellent. Once it drys I will put a thin coat of sealer then paint. That should stop a lot of the leaks. I will be installing and sealing new brake lines.
Usually
the screws come out easily. These may have been cross threaded. Heat and grease
always makes a big mess. All parts will be refurbished.
When
water gets trapped in turn signals corrosion takes over.
Old
metal lines were bad. Now resealed cylinders, new bearings, seals and Amsoil
grease.
Gauges, lights not working. Taking apart I see assorted repairs. Using meter makes trouble shooting possible. Choke and water throttle and speedometer cables can now be installed too.
